AKA THE LEARNING SPACE STUDENTS ACTUALLY WANT TO USE.
Higher education has always embraced a fascinating mix of the traditional and the cutting-edge, and West Chester University is no different.
Our longtime client, they came to us to update historic Anderson Hall, a vintage 1938 build that houses 24 classroom spaces (some small, some seating more than 100 students). Their goal: keep the architectural beauty and integrity of their largest classroom facility, while modernizing the furniture and technology inside.
No easy task. WCU needed professional, high-end academic furniture that is as gorgeous as it is functional. At the same time, they wanted to better integrate technology into their classrooms. They came to AOE knowing our Blue Circle Studio team could deliver.
Working with Lobar Construction and Blackney Hayes Architects, we optioned several case goods, desks and conference tables to help with traditional academic needs. We also sourced some responsive, sustainable walls solutions, including state-of-the-art technology walls to bring their classrooms into the 21st century.
The result? A stunning learning environment with the beauty of a modern workspace and the brains demanded by a venerated learning institution. Each your heart out, Ivy League.
